If you always like to keep up to date with the latest beauty trends, you’re no doubt looking ahead at what products are set to be released this year – or what’s already available but growing in popularity.
The guys at Refinery29 have highlighted some of the top makeup trends to keep an eye on for 2018, and to try yourself.
First on the list is the gold highlighter, which the publication noted isn’t the most subtle option, but one that’s still “a welcome addition to our makeup arsenal”.
If you’re looking for something that’s not quite as bold, a pale gold highlighting powder could be a good place to start.
Upside-down eyeliner is one trend that’s carrying over from 2017. If you’ve somehow missed this, it’s one of the easiest makeup hacks out there – you simply apply eyeliner to your bottom lashline and usually you use a coloured eyeliner to make it really stand out. Blue is a favourite at Refinery29, but you can use any shade you choose.
Another way to add a dash of colour to your eye makeup is to put it in the inner corner of your eyes. Usually, you’d use a neutral shade here, but more and more makeup artists are experimenting with small splashes of colour and we think it looks great.
One trend that’s not mentioned is that for weird and wonderful eyebrows. Last year, Harper’s Bazaar dubbed 2017 the year of the insane eyebrow – and with good reason. While the desire for feathered, wavy or boxed brows might have diminished, there’s still likely to be demand for microblading from those with thin or very pale eyebrows.
It could well be worth going on microblading courses in Cheshire and adding this to your list of skills, if you haven’t already.
