With spring (hopefully) around the corner, it’s time to start dusting off your colourful clothes and getting ready for some warmer weather. For most of us, that also means trying some new makeup techniques – and possibly experimenting with some new colours too.
According to Harper’s Bazaar, there are a number of makeup trends that are set to be big this spring, giving you a chance to overhaul your look.
Bright colours are all the rage, with electric eyes one of the top trends – think vivid and glittery eyeshadows and liners, with makeup artist Lynsey Alexander stating that this look is “inspired by the electric colours of the early ‘90s Soho party scene”.
You don’t need to get too technical when applying this – smudging the eyeshadow across your lids using your fingers is a good way to get the desired look. Stick to nude lips though to balance it all out.
Vivid red lips are also finding favour this spring, with the publication noting that this looks particularly effective against “luminous skin”. Eye makeup should be minimal, with just a hint of mascara, to ensure the lips really stand out.
A HIFU facelift could help give your skin the glow you want for spring after the cold winter, so consider investing in a bit of TLC before you go for this minimal makeup approach.
Another minimal, and classic, beauty look is that of angel wings – flicks at the end of your eyeliner. Rather than sticking to classic black though, you should add these flicks in a bright colour, Harper’s Bazaar advises.
nta, lavender, yellow or white are among the colours recommended to recreate this fresh look.
Other trends to watch this year include upside-down eyeliner and gold highlighters, according to Refinery29.
