It’s no secret that as we age our beauty regime changes. We’ll start using different moisturisers, cleansing products and, of course, our makeup will alter to reflect who we are.

But even if you’re confident with your foundation, eyeliner and mascara, it never hurts to get some advice – especially if that comes from some of the world’s top makeup artists.

Speaking to Woman and Home, a number of experts have offered some tips to ensure your makeup always looks stunning.

Sharon Dowsett, who’s an ambassador for Blink Brow Bar, said that it’s important to remember to conceal the area between your inner eyes and the bridge of your nose, because there’s often a blue shadow here. Doing so “really brightens your eyes”, she explained.

Meanwhile, global makeup director for L’Oreal Paris Val Garland provided a simple way to avoid your foundation feeling dry – apply moisturiser over the top and then dust bronzer onto your cheeks for a “healthy glow”.

It’s also important to embrace certain features as you get older, such as your wrinkles, Mary Greenwell, ambassador for Laura Mercier explained. “Don’t attempt to ‘cover’ your wrinkles; no concealer is going to hide them. Instead, use a light concealer and be sure to moisturise well first,” she recommended.

Pat McGrath, who’s an A-list makeup artist and ambassador for Max Factor, had a very simple tip: “Never skip mascara!”

As well as taking these tips onboard, you might also be interested in Kim Kardashian’s top tip. She recently revealed that she uses The Ordinary’s Granactive Retinoid Emulsion to keep her skin looking young and fresh.
